Memoir Writing

Elisabeth’s Memoir Writing sessions are an Allenspark favorite! This is a wonderful opportunity for community members to write their memories and experiences in a guided setting to pass on to family and friends. Individual writing is done outside of class based on various topics. Class time is then used to share essays and collaborate on improvements.
This free memoir writing class is designed to help people tell some of their life stories. We all have interesting aspects to our life: some are happy memories, some are sad, some are funny. Some are just factual histories. Participants are encouraged to write their memoirs before class meets and read their pieces out loud. We are a gentle group that will offer helpful commentary. Elisabeth Sherwin, who was a newspaper journalist for 30 years, will also share some writing tips. It’s hoped that these pieces will be passed along to The Wind for publication but that is up to each individual author.
